Jersey Shore Center for Vascular Health was developed specifically to address the particular needs of individuals with vascular disease.

It is estimated that 40 million Americans will be affected by vascular disease in the years to come. Arteries can become blocked or diseased when plaque build up causes them to narrow. This limits blood flow through the affected arteries, which can cause injury to the organ or body part being supplied by that artery. In other cases, arteries may expand like a balloon, putting them at risk for rupture. Arteries anywhere in the body can be affected, but certain areas are particularly prone to this these problems. Depending on the area involved, certain typical symptoms may develop. In other situations, the arterial narrowing may be completely silent until a serious or even life threatening complication occurs. If left untreated, certain blocked or diseased arteries can lead to stroke, amputation or even death.
